How to Find Decaying Pages

Detection comes before treatment. You need a systematic way to surface pages that are losing traffic before the losses become catastrophic. Several approaches work well together.

The GSC Traffic Comparison Method

Google Search Console is the right starting point. Pull your performance data for the last 16 months, then compare the first 8 months against the most recent 8. Filter to show pages where clicks have declined by more than 20%. The ROI of Fighting Decay

Refreshing existing pages almost always delivers better ROI than publishing new content. A page that already has backlinks, indexing history, and some authority just needs to be competitive again. Publishing a brand-new page means starting from zero on all of those dimensions.
