Advanced Web Ranking Alternatives (and Who AWR Still Fits)
Advanced Web Ranking has tracked rankings since the desktop-software era, and at volume its pricing is hard to beat. Whether it fits you depends on one number: how many keywords you genuinely need tracked.
What Advanced Web Ranking Is
AWR is built by Caphyon, a Romanian software company whose founders started it as desktop rank-tracking software before rebuilding it as a cloud platform. Two decades of single-purpose focus shows in the product: it tracks keyword positions across search engines, devices, and locations, and its published pricing (as of August 2026) starts at $139/month for 7,000 tracked keywords with unlimited projects and unlimited users, scaling to 14,500 keywords at $279 and beyond. Plans now include AI-visibility and citation tracking alongside classic SERP positions.
Run the arithmetic and the entry tier works out to about two cents per tracked keyword per month, an unusually low rate for daily tracking, and unlimited seats removes the per-user tax most SEO software charges. If your operation genuinely consumes thousands of tracked keywords across many markets, AWR belongs on your shortlist rather than on your replacement list.
The Honest Question: Do You Need 7,000 Keywords?
Most people searching for an AWR alternative are not leaving because the tool fails. They are leaving because the entry tier is sized for agencies and enterprise teams, and a site owner tracking 50 keywords is paying for 6,950 empty slots. Rank trackers do not have meaningfully cheaper small tiers because their cost structure is per-SERP-checked; the way to spend less is usually to change approach, not vendor.
TWO WAYS TO KNOW YOUR RANKINGS
SERP scraping (AWR, SEOmonitor)
- Checks any keyword, ranked or not
- Tracks competitors position-by-position
- Per-location and per-device precision
- Cost scales with keywords tracked
First-party GSC data (MeasureBoard)
- Google's own position data, no scraping
- Covers your top-ranking queries automatically
- Includes real clicks and impressions
- Flat cost, no keyword quota to purchase
Scraping answers "where could we rank?" First-party data answers "how are our rankings performing?"
Alternative 1: MeasureBoard, for Your Own Sites
If the rankings you track are your own, Google already publishes them. MeasureBoard connects to Google Search Console and snapshots your top-ranking keywords daily, building position history backed by the clicks and impressions data scrapers cannot see (history depth and per-keyword trend charts vary by plan). Because the data comes from Google rather than from purchased SERP checks, there is no keyword quota to size or outgrow. Around it sit traffic reports, site audits, keyword research, and an AI Rank Tracker for visibility in ChatGPT, Gemini, and Claude answers. Plans run free to $30/month per site.
The limits are the mirror image of the strengths: no tracking of keywords you rank nowhere for, no per-keyword competitor position tables, no white-label reports. Agencies reporting scraped positions to clients still need a scraper. Site owners measuring their own performance mostly do not.
Alternative 2: SEOmonitor, for Agency Workflows
Agencies that want more than raw positions, such as forecasting for pitches and client-facing reporting, should look at SEOmonitor, which prices by batches of 1,000 daily-tracked keywords with unlimited users. It is a different budget conversation than AWR's flat tiers, and its agency features are the point. We compared the two models in detail in our SEOmonitor guide.
Alternative 3: The All-in-One Suites
Ahrefs and Semrush both include rank trackers inside their research suites. Few teams buy them for tracking alone, since their keyword allowances at entry tiers are small compared to AWR's. The calculation changes when you also need their backlink databases, keyword research, and audit tooling; then the bundled tracker rides along at no marginal cost. Our comparison page covers where those suites and MeasureBoard each win on price and coverage.
Whichever tool ends up tracking your positions, track the newer surface too: AWR itself added AI visibility tracking because rankings in AI answers increasingly decide who gets discovered. Our guide to AI results tracking covers how to measure that channel regardless of your rank tracker.
So Is Anything Better Than Advanced Web Ranking?
On cost per tracked keyword at volume, nothing here beats AWR. Better is a per-job verdict everywhere else: SEOmonitor is better for agency forecasting and client reporting, Ahrefs and Semrush are better when you need a full research suite around the tracker, and MeasureBoard is better for owners of their own sites who want rankings connected to traffic and revenue, built on Google's own position data instead of a keyword quota.
